College Football Parlays for Week 0: Riding with Hawaii and More

Week 0 of the college football season kicks off this weekend. Get in on the action with Kody Malstrom's three favorite parlays from the upcoming slate of games.

Arguably the most popular market in the industry, parlays have run rampant over the past few years, flooding social media with bet slips in hopes of turning couch change into a big win. With week 0 providing us plenty of games to pick apart, I have constructed a few parlays to help guide your wagers, including a longshot involving two underdogs.

College Football Parlays for Week 0

If you are new to parlays, they operate differently than a straight bet. In order for your parlay to cash, every leg must grade out as a win. If just one leg fails to cover, then you lose your bet.

TCU ML/NC State ML (+247, BetMGM)

If you have already read my Favorite CFB Futures, then you would know I am fading UNC any chance I get. Their underwhelming offseason indicates their struggles on offense are poised to persist, fielding a group who will mirror their near-dead-last marks in Success Rate and EPA. Steve Belichick’s absence also raises red flags over their defense, forcing the Tar Heels to play in highly volatile contests while lacking the talent on offense to be competitive.

NC State, on the other hand, brings back a majority of their offense that helped propel them to top-10 marks in Standard Down Explosiveness and Finishing Drives, brushing aside early-season variance. With Virginia’s stalwart defense expected to regress while integrating new pieces at key positions, the Wolfpack will be able to set a scoring pace too fast for them to keep up with and secure the win.

USC Alt -34.5/Hawai’i Alt +7.5 (+132, DraftKings)

Even when dealing with question marks at center, USC still fields one of the more potent offenses in the nation, hovering near the top of the board in Success Rate and Efficiency. Jayden Maiava’s ability to take care of the ball while trying to stretch the field has played a major role in their success, ranking 23rd in Havoc Allowed while averaging nearly ten yards per completion.

In a favorable matchup against San Jose State, the Spartans are ill-equipped to keep pace with the Trojans, sitting outside the top-100 in Havoc and in Standard Down EPA. When in scoring position, San Jose State’s defense is unable to take advantage of the shortened field, grading out equally as poor in Def Finishing Drives, allowing their opponents to put up points on the board at a high rate.

Like the Spartans, Stanford is also projected to underwhelm on defense, replicating last year’s disastrous mark in Defense Hard Stops and Success Rate. Their inability to disrupt their opponents' rhythm will make it easier for Hawai’i to pick apart their gaps in coverage, improving their probability of scoring to help stay within the number.

Sacramento State ML/Hawai’i ML (+943, DraftKings)

Rounding out our parlay piece with a longshot, I want to increase my exposure on the Rainbow Warriors while simultaneously fading Eastern Michigan in their matchup against Sacramento State, who is making their debut in the MAC. While I do not have much conviction in the Hornets' offense, they will be able to at least apply pressure to the Eagles' defense, a group that ranked well below league average in Third Down Defense and Def Rush Explosiveness.
